Phone-free school

In short

Your child may bring a phone or smartwatch for the journey to and from school, but it must stay switched off and stored securely in their bag or locker throughout the school day. If you need to reach your child during the day, call the School Office.

The rule

KSI Montenegro is a phone-free school. Students may bring mobile phones and smartwatches to school where these are needed for communication with families before or after the school day, but they must remain switched off and stored securely in the student’s bag or locker throughout the school day.

Students must not carry or use mobile phones or smartwatches during the school day unless specific permission has been given by a member of staff for an exceptional reason.

If the rule is broken

If a student is found using or carrying a phone or smartwatch contrary to these expectations, the device will be collected by a member of staff and stored securely in the Head of School’s Office. Repeated incidents will result in parents being contacted and may lead to further consequences in accordance with the school’s behaviour procedures.

Contacting your child during the day

Where students need to contact their parents or guardians during the school day, they should speak with a member of staff and use the appropriate school communication channels via the School Office.

This is separate from BYOD

The phone-free rule is not the same as the device policy for schoolwork. Students from Year 3 up may use a personal device in class with a teacher’s approval — see bring your own device.
