In short

Call the school in advance to tell the School Nurse and the teacher your child will be absent. A child sent home ill should not return until they have been symptom free for 24 hours. Being excused from PE needs a doctor’s note.

Reporting an absence

Parents are asked to call the school phone number to inform the School Nurse and teacher of their child’s absence in advance. The number is +382 (0)32 672 655 — see contact information.

A doctor’s note is required for any absence that exceeds two consecutive days — see attendance & punctuality.

If your child becomes ill at school

If a child becomes ill during the day, parents or guardians are contacted immediately and required to pick up the child as soon as possible.

Children who are sent home due to illness should not return to the school until they have been symptom free for a 24-hour period.

Anyone leaving before the end of the day must be approved and must sign out at the front office — see dismissal & leaving early.

Hygiene

It is accepted that universal precautionary measures undertaken by all persons are necessary in the prevention of serious transmittable diseases. All students are expected to follow routine hygiene practices.

Because proper hand washing is a significant preventative measure for many diseases, all students must play an active role and be responsible for staying healthy and preventing the spread of infection. In addition to washing hands frequently, all persons must cover up when coughing or sneezing.

Being excused from PE

Students can be excused from PE/PHE lessons only with a doctor’s note stating that the child is not capable of performing physical activities because of their health situation.
