In short

Every teacher and member of staff at KSIM is required to report any concern about a student’s wellbeing. The school’s safeguarding policy exists to protect the student, the family and the wider community, and to make sure confidential support is available to every student.

What the policy is for

The KSI Montenegro Child Safeguarding Policy seeks to protect the student, the family and the KSIM community. It ensures the right of the child to protection, and aims to ensure that access to confidential support systems is available to all students.

Duty of care

All teachers and staff at KSI Montenegro are mandated to report their concerns about the well-being of any student.

Child abuse and neglect are violations of a child’s human rights and are obstacles to a child’s education as well as to their physical, emotional, and social development. KSIM has an institutional responsibility to protect all children; In this role we need to ensure all children in our care are afforded a safe and secure environment in which to grow and develop, no matter what cultural background they come from. As educators, we have the opportunity to observe and interact with children over time on a daily basis, and are in a unique position to identify children who need help and protection. As such, we have a professional, ethical and legal obligation to identify children who are in need of protection and to take steps to ensure that the child and family avail themselves of the services needed to remedy any situation that constitutes child abuse or neglect.

Who to tell

Safeguarding at KSIM is led by the Head of Student Support, Welfare & Inclusion, who is the DSLDesignated Safeguarding Lead — the member of staff who leads child protection at KSIM.. A DDSLDeputy Designated Safeguarding Lead — deputises for the DSL on child protection. also holds the role. Any member of staff can take a concern forward — see who to contact for what.
