Families join KSIM at every point in the year, so this page pulls together the things you need before day one. Everything below links to the full detail.

The school day

The campus opens at 07:30 and supervision starts at 07:40. Registration is at 07:55, so arriving after that counts as a late arrival and has to be recorded at Reception.

Where your child goes on arrival depends on their programme:

PYP (Nursery to Year 6) — wait in the playground until the 07:55 bell, then line up for the class teacher. In bad weather, go straight to the classroom.
MYP (Years 7 to 11) — go to the homeroom, ready for registration by 07:55.
DP (Years 12 and 13) — go to the DP Exchange, then homeroom by 07:55.

Uniform

All students in Year 3 and above wear full KSI uniform every day. Nursery to Year 3 wear PE kit for the whole day whenever PE or physical activity is scheduled. Label every uniform item with your child’s name.

What to bring every day

A refillable plastic or metal water bottle
A school bag for books and supplies
Indoor shoes in one dark solid colour (Early Years and PYP), plus outdoor shoes for cold or wet weather
Early Years (Nursery and Reception) also need a spare set of clothes — a KSIM PE kit works well

Food

Lunch and fruit snacks are provided for every student and packed lunches are not permitted. If your child has a food allergy or a special dietary requirement, complete the Dietary Requirements Form with the School Nurse before your child starts.

Phones and devices

KSIM is a phone-free school. Phones and smartwatches may come to school for the journey, but they stay switched off in a bag or locker all day. BYOD applies from Year 3 up: with a teacher’s permission, students may use their own device for schoolwork.

Safeguarding

Every member of staff at KSIM is required to report any concern about a student’s wellbeing. If your child will live in Montenegro without a parent present, the school needs guardianship paperwork on file.

Who to contact

Start with your child’s class or homeroom teacher. If a concern is not resolved, go to the phase coordinator, then the Head of School.

Language

English is the shared language of the KSIM community and students and staff are asked to use it on campus wherever they can. Formal written communication from the school is in English, with a bilingual translation for important letters and formal contracts.
